Episode 1 - End Of The Road
Professor- Listen to me. This war, we’re going to win it. For Nairobi.
Alicia Sierra- (to Professor) If you move an inch, I’ll shoot you. And trust me, I’d love to see you dead. I’m the wife of a dead man. I’m a disgraced police officer. People who used to love me think I’m a torturer. All thanks to you. And the only reason I’m not emptying my clip into your brain is because someone’s gonna need me for the next 18 years. But It’s a really fine line. And if you make me cross it, I’ll do it with a smile on my face.
Professor- What are you going to do with me? Alicia Sierra- You’re going to tell me the whole plan, so I can deliver you on a platter. I’m gonna make sure that you’re charged with terrorism, sentenced to life in prison, so you don’t ever see sunlight for the rest of your life. Because listen to me, your sentence will be our salvation.
[Flashback] Berlin- It’s flattering that a young man like you would want to polish my wife’s beautiful thighs. Would you look at that? See how confusing life can get sometimes? Paradoxical. For example, I could seem like a good parent if I wanted to work with my son, but if that job were a robbery, probably some prude assh*le would object to it. Rafael- I’ll never steal with you in my life. Berlin- You want a boring life with schedules, meetings, emails, with those endless shifts that will completely exhaust your energy? Then give you month-long holiday so you can get a glimpse of some freedom? Rafael- You’re gonna want a glimpse of freedom when you go to prison dad. In my job, you don’t get killed or go to jail.
Berlin- Death is simply just a word, a priori. It comprises everything that doesn’t exist. And on the other hand, once you’re dead, you won’t remember you were alive anymore. Rafael- So that’s why you wanted to meet, Right? That’s why you wanted to see me again? How can you possibly say you love me but you don’t care if I get killed? Berlin- What I don’t want is for you to die before you’ve even lived. What I’m offering you right now is a guaranteed path to liberty. With me, you’ll find authentic liberation. And if we ever have to pay a price for it, then we pay it.
[Flashback] Berlin- The things that are really important in life have a high price. Rebellion. Liberty. Ideals.
Tokyo- We all experienced that at some point of our lives. One day your brother is diagnosed with a terminal illness. One day you realize you won’t ever see your child again. That you won’t see your friends again. Or your unrequited love. Or that you’ll never hug your father again. Other days, you’re leaving a bank with your boyfriend and a bullet takes him away from you. Your family, won’t ever see each other again. Everything we experienced while dressed in red was coming to a close. This was the end of our journey together.
Episode 2 - Do You Believe In Reincarnation?
Tokyo- Locked up for 100 hours, trapped, about to be killed and you’ve lost your best friend, it feels like 100 years are gone by. And going outside feels like the biggest freedom in the world. It doesn’t even matter if thousands of guns are aiming at you. Unarmed, barefoot, with the sun on your face and wrapped in silence, you feel free. We were sending a message of hope. we were showing them that if we were capable of doing that, we could do anything. And people began to believe in miracles.
Episode 3 - The Spectacle Of Life
Manila- (to Stockholm) I think the natural state of parenthood is just plain confusion. And at the end of the day, it’s not about doing everything the right way, it’s about loving.
[Flashback] Rafael- Dad, you come across as a person that you know is fond of art and restore monasteries. I’m sorry, I gotta say it. These pieces belong in a museum. Berlin- Wait a minute, are you calling this art? Rafael- Of course I am. These pieces are more than 1000 years old. they’re hand carved, they have Nordic mythology symbols, this is pure art. Berlin- Any blacksmith could make garbage like this. this is the coarseness of barbarians. Those people pillaged iconic pieces, extraordinary ones: Latin, Greek, Phoenician, and they melted them for their cups of wine, plates, amulets. We’re giving the dignity back to this gold. We’re the ones who are going to make art. This heist will be unforgettable.
Tokyo- Our first defence strategy was to move the weapons to a safe place. But rather than a bunker, it felt like we were digging our own graves. Without the Professor, we felt like orphans. No father, no plan, no hope.
Palermo- (to Helsinki) This is our last dance, Fatty. Make it a good one.
Palermo- Pardon the soccer reference, it’s appropriate for the circumstances. Sometimes, during the World cup finals, you know which team is gonna lose by the look of fear in the player’s faces as they sing the anthem. And that type of fear is what I’m seeing here, right now. but that’s all about to change.
Helsinki- We can’t win this war. Palermo- We don’t need to win this war. In fact, we’re going to lose it, but a slow pace. And you, my boys and girls in red, we’re the f*cking dregs of society, a team with the biggest losers in history- trans, criminals, scumbags, gays, Balkans, Latinos. What the f*ck can they teach us about losing? We know the terrible feeling of a slow defeat, we know it. So it’s just another day as losers. Bogota- And why do we wanna be losers again? Palermo- So we can melt the gold and take it all out, brother.
Episode 4 - Your Place In Heaven
[Flashback] Berlin- (to Rafael) Only a true thief feels like he owns someone else’s property. Now you know that you’re really one of us. So next time, you can leave all of that arrogance and moral superiority behind and never call your father a cynic ever again.
[Flashback] Berlin- (to Rafael) I never took you to play tennis or to ride a bike uphill, or to go rowing someplace. Because doing those kinds of things wouldn’t teach you anything you don’t already know. But here you learn, If you really want something in life, you have to steal it from somebody else. That’s the story of the world, my son.
Episode 5 - Live Many Lives
[Flashback] Tokyo- What do you think you know about my life? Or about what I’ve done to get freedom? Professor- Actually, I’ll learn the only thing I need to know about you right now: whether you’re brave enough to be born again, to live again, to find another love, a family.
Tokyo- A lot of people believe we only find one true love in our lives. But what they don’t realize is you can have several lives.
Tokyo- The day I killed Gandia, all the odds were against me. Like a marionette held together with bullets. And those five bullet wounds reminded me of my samurai.
Tokyo- (to Professor) You’ve always been my guardian angel. Now is my turn to be yours.
Tokyo- Growing old in a prison cell isn’t for me. I’d rather be on my run. And if I can’t run with my body, at least let my soul be free.
